Sailor in the Seas of Yesterday & Tomorrow

With the wind on his shoulders and an eye seeking God,
He sets off to shores unknown,
Eyes cast away like a sailor of a faraway land,
Setting to sea with his forbidden lover.

Time stops and starts again.
“If only I could capture this moment.
If only I could capture this moment,”
He says to himself.
But his words are murmured out by the swooshing sea.

Cast away into the night,
Like the distant dreams of tomorrow,
And the faded memories of yesterday.

All the worries and concerns of old,
Fizzled away with time,
And became nothing but a blurry memory in his mind.

An illusion,
Almost like it never existed,
Almost like it was never real.

“Is all that we see or seem,
But a dream within a dream?”

He wonders.

And nothing is left to answer him,
But the hoo-hooing of the late night spotted owl.

Desolate in desire,
And longing for more,
And more and more.
And fearful of whatever is coming after him,
And hopeful for a better tomorrow,
And blessed with his daily bread,
As he always is.

He remembers the mystic he stumbled into in the market,
Who looked deep into his eyes,
Like he was piercing his way into his soul.
Time stopped right then and there as he said,

“There is always enough.
No matter what is going on,
No matter what is happening,
There is ALWAYS enough,
We always have enough.”

And like a snapshot in time,
That moment found home deep inside of his recollections,
Piercing him,
Like a thumbtack into the fabric of reality.

Fulfilled and then broken,
Fulfilled and then broken
Fulfilled and then broken
and fulfilled yet again,
In the endless saga of time.

“Maybe good,
Maybe bad,”
He heard the old mystic say in his mind,

As he echoed away in a distant laughter.
