Bare Your Soul

I don’t know if it’s just me,

but I have rebelled against boring conversations.

I am at war against common ways of conversing,

Filling space with words just to avoid discomfort...

Cliche questions...

Give me spice.

Give me truth.

Give me your soul and your presence.

That’s what I desire.

Not the soft sinking ship of words made to remove the discomfort of the unknown.

But bare your soul to me in the silence and I will bare mine back.

Bare your beating heart in the sunlight of the divine that exists within you.

And I will stand in honor.

Show me who you are.

It isn’t your business or the ghostwriting agency you mention as your eyes dull.

It isn’t the location of your house,

or the intersection of Harvey and Gramble where your favorite coffee shop lies.

It’s somewhere deeper than that.

It’s somewhere deeper and I challenge you,

I encourage you,

I silently demand you to go there,

Outside of the normality.

Because nobody cares about what street you live on,

Or where your work is located.

We care about what sets your soul on fire.

What reignites that spark in your eye

That years of churning and grinding

And fighting down an empty path

Has taken away from you.

Where is the spark,

And how can you reignite it over and over again,

Even when the business beat you down,

Or the cubicle dulled your heart,

Or the unfulfilled desire that has caused for your hope to dissipate

Like the smoke pouring from the end of a cigarette at sundown on 6th street?

Bare your soul and I will bare mine.

Bare your soul and the world will shine it back at you.

Bare your soul and take a stand for a world that feels.

Take a stand for a world full of people baring a heart that is on fire.

So rage,

Rage against the dying of the light.

Rage against the mornings of waking up in silent desolation.

Rage against the tides that throw you back into the corner of your essence because you are afraid.

Rage against it all and take a stand for a life that is interesting.

A life that is true.

A life that is everything you dreamed of when the dream still lived within you.

Life is now.

And the world is turning.

The tides are changing.

And it’s time for the collective to wake up.

And it begins with you.

And it begins by being a leader of realness.
